Deliciously moist banana bars topped with a rich brown sugar icing.

- 3 ripe bananas (about 1 ½ cups mashed)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup unsalted butter (for icing)
- 1 cup brown sugar (for icing)
- ¼ cup heavy cream (for icing)
- ½ tsp sea salt (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
- Combine mashed bananas with granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and melted butter; whisk until well mixed.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder; gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- While cooling, prepare the icing by melting butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat; stir in heavy cream and sea salt. Simmer for two minutes before removing from heat.
- Drizzle icing over cooled bars before cutting into squares.
Notes
- These bars are best served warm or at room temperature.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
