A deliciously moist banana chocolate layer cake topped with whipped cream and cherries.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 large eggs
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- to taste Chocolate syrup (for drizzling)
- to taste Maraschino cherries (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round 9-inch baking pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add melted butter, eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter; fold cocoa powder into half for the chocolate layer.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form; frost between cooled cake layers and on top.
- Drizzle with chocolate syrup and top with maraschino cherries before serving.
