Description

A deliciously moist banana chocolate layer cake topped with whipped cream and cherries.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • to taste Chocolate syrup (for drizzling)
  • to taste Maraschino cherries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round 9-inch baking pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter; fold cocoa powder into half for the chocolate layer.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form; frost between cooled cake layers and on top.
  8. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and top with maraschino cherries before serving.
