- 4 oz Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp butter (for grilling)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk

- A pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Prepare the Béchamel Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk while whisking continuously until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg; set aside.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread béchamel on each slice of bread. Layer ham and Gruyère cheese between two slices.
- Grill: Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
