Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped
  • 4 slices aged cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced

Instructions

  1. Gather ingredients and finely chop the jalapeños.
  2. In a bowl, form the ground beef into four thick patties (about ¼ lb each). Avoid overworking the meat.
  3. Season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (400°F).
  5. Grill patties for about 3 minutes on one side, then smash them flat with a spatula.
  6. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, adding chopped jalapeños on top of each patty followed by cheese slices until melted.
  7. Serve hot on buns with lettuce and tomato.
